		<item><title><![CDATA[Deputy Commissioner - Canada Pension Plan / Old Age Security: Review Tribunals]]></title><link>http://www.appointments-nominations.gc.ca/lstAnns.asp?lang=eng&amp;adID=171</link><description><![CDATA[<p>In 1991, Parliament created the <em>Canada Pension Plan </em>Review Tribunals 
with the passage of Bill C-116. In 1995, Bill C-54 gave Review Tribunals additional 
jurisdiction to hear appeals under the <em>Old Age Security Act</em>. The Review 
Tribunals were created as a body independent from government that would make determinations

		<item><title><![CDATA[ - Canada Pension Plan / Old Age Security: Review Tribunals]]></title><link>http://www.appointments-nominations.gc.ca/lstAnns.asp?lang=eng&amp;adID=136</link><description><![CDATA[<p>The Review Tribunals are independent and impartial bodies that conduct quasi-judicial 
hearings of appeals for individuals whose applications for Old Age Security and 
<em>Canada Pension Plan</em> benefits were denied at the reconsideration stage of appeal.</p>
<p>The Review Tribunals sit in panels consisting of three people appointed by the 
Governor in Council. The Chairperson of the Tribunal must be a lawyer and a community 
member also sits on the panel. As ninety-five percent of hearings are related 
to disabilities, a disability hearing must include a medical member who is qualified 
to practice medicine or a prescribed related health profession in a province or

		<item><title><![CDATA[Chairperson (full-time position) - Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission]]></title><link>http://www.appointments-nominations.gc.ca/lstAnns.asp?lang=eng&amp;adID=172</link><description><![CDATA[The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is an independent regulatory body, established under the <i>Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Act</i>. As a member of the Canadian Heritage Portfolio, the CRTC is responsible for regulating and supervising all aspects of the Canadian broadcasting system with a view to implementing the broadcasting policy set out in the <i>Broadcasting Act</i>. It also regulates telecommunications in Canada to implement the policy set out in the <i>Telecommunications Act</i>. The CRTC’s role is thus to maintain a delicate balance “in the public interest” between the cultural, social and economic goals of the legislation on broadcasting and telecommunications. Most appeals are from individual claimants, although employers may also appeal. Its mandate is to promote safety and security, environmental protection, efficient energy infrastructure and markets, and to make decisions in the Canadian public interest within the mandate set by Parliament for the regulation of pipelines, energy development and trade. The NEB has a staff of approximately 400 employees and an annual budget of $60 million. tribunal of the Government of Canada.&nbsp; The VRAB deals with applications from 
Veterans, Canadian Forces members, serving or discharged members of the RCMP and 
their families, to review or appeal decisions taken by Veterans Affairs Canada 
in disability pension and award matters.</p>
<p>Members of the VRAB conduct hearings across Canada and write decisions in
